Title: best of: 'three imaginary boys' deluxe edition, disc two - rarities 1977-1979

i've been listening a lot to the deluxe bonus discs for the first three albums - some stuff there really makes me happy, again and again and... :smth020

i was wondering what's everyone's favorite demo/out-take on TIB? what was the best find on this set of old treasures?

ps. i've intentionally left out extra album tracks 'boys don't cry' and 'jumping...' since i feel they fall in a completely different category anyway, having been available elsewhere before (even if not always on cd). also, i've decided to leave out live tracks for the same reason.

i'm struggling between 'i'm cold' and 'play with me'... :smth100

I went with the BDC studio demo--even though it's been available since Concert/Curiosities it's still my fave and I'd be being dishonest if I didn't vote for it!  Out of the stuff new to the remaster, I'd say the 10:15 home demo is just sublime as well...

I think 'Play with me' is a really catchy song and it would have fit perfectly in the 3IB album. Perhaps with a slighty different production - there's a sort of 'echo effect' on Robert's voice in all these studio demos that I'm not a fan of...

Regarding alternate versions of already familiar songs, I was impressed with the home demo of '10:15'. I wouldn't say it's better than the 3IB version, but there's something about it that is quite chilling: maybe Robert's almost child-like voice, maybe that very moody organ sound that leads the song... All in all, a really good surprise (there's also a bit of guitar there that sounds too much pre-punk 70's to sound good on a Cure record, but I will just pretende it isn't there.  :-D )

I've been listening to this nearly every night, it's my Cure addiction at the moment. :smth023
It's so difficult to pick just one, cause I really enjoy quite a few of them!

Definitely! Faded Smiles is fantastic. And of course the songs with Porl: I Want To Be Old (to hear that live now!   :-D), I'm Cold, I Just Need Myself, The Cocktail Party.

Winter to me sounds like the beginning of that dreamy Cure sound that I really love. So beautiful, although hearing Play With Me shortly after doesn't really fit does it?

Been listening to all of the deluxe editions extra discs recently(particularly Seventeen Seconds)in overdrive almost constantly. Some nice 'uns here was between I'm Cold and I Just Need Myself for me eventually voting for the former. Although I absolutely love the alternate take on Fire In Cairo I decided picking an album track would be 'cheating'

This was a pretty good Deluxe disc. My faves were Faith, Pornography, and The Head on the Door. The Top and Kiss Me ones were dissappointing tho. I cant wait for the Disintegration one, I can tell that ones gonna be really good
