Hi, I realise this is my first post on curefans.com so hoping it's not looking too much like spam ..!
On Saturday 1 November I am presenting two hours of Cure songs on our local radio station, Phoenix FM. The songs will be voted for by listeners to create a top 20, so if you want to add your vote please have a look at http://www.phoenixfm.com/top20-cure.php ....
If you can't pick us up on FM you can listen on the internet, full details on the website.
Cheers
EC

'100 seconds' is the title for the intro music on the Trilogy DVD.
'One Hundred Years' is on the list, so don't worry! It'll be in the top 20 for sure! :)
Does anyone has chosen any of the new stuff? Cause I picked up "The only one". Of course Push and The Big Hand couldn't be missing 8)
This is a great idea eddiecurry :smth023
Thanks for the info and link :)
Hope it will be a success :)

Well, if 2004 counts for "new stuff" than I did. This Morning made my list. Push, Secrets, The Big Hand, The Holy Hour, and Give Me It were the easy ones for me to pick. After that I kept going back and changing things up.

Down Under was one of my votes. :-D
I'm very curious to see which songs will make the top 20.
This is a great idea. :smth023
Picking only ten songs was so difficult... so I just picked random songs I love and thought might be strange to hear on the radio.
This is a nice idea. I voted but -- boy, was it difficult! I kept going back and changing things too. I'd be done and then I'd say "No, wait! I forgot to include this one or that one, that can't be right!" I'm really curious to see the results.
But I have to admit that nothing past Wish made it on my list.
Picked up songs who are really important to me (Disintegration, A strange day, Jupiter Crash) and some, I thought...was a real fun to see this one chosen (Meathook, 100 Seconds, Do the hansa...)
Well, I like the new singles as much as the self-titled album, which was a real landmark to me, but maybe these songs are just...too 'new' to associate that much with them (anyhow picked up UTS...if it were listened) but at least I voted for '100 Seconds', so there's some new stuff in my list. :-D
Ranking your favorite songs, now that's painful...I picked the top ten I'd want to hear on the radio, like Untitled, Waiting and so on. Most Cure songs deserve to get some love on the radio, so whatever the results, it'll be a dream come true for me! Thanks a bunch Eddie! :smth023
there's still time to vote, don't forget to have your say! :smth023
Where can I hear it?
If you're in Brentwood and Billericay - tune your wireless to 98.0FM.
If you live outside the area (or even if you don't) you can listen on the internet by clicking this link: http://dream.wavestreamer.com:2963/listen.pls
Yep!
I'll also embed the radio in curefans.com, so everyone who will pass by here will be able to listen the program :smth020
I'm really looking forward to hearing this show. I'm hoping songs like 'The Drowning Man' and 'Shake Dog Shake' make it in the top 20. I'm very curious to see.
Right now we're testing how works the embed in curefans.com. We will put it back at 22.00 UK TIME (5 hours from now to be precise)
wow! another dj from the radio just said they've got more than 1200 votes for this Top 20! they said is probably one of the most succesful Top 20 they ever had! :smth023
Just three more hours to go! :smth020

I'm out in the country right now, thought I could listen to the show on an iPhone. iPhone says no (I click the link for listening online and the browser just says it can't download it). :( Haven't been able to tell if you can download the show from the website later. Is anyone recording it?

Hey everyone, it's TheFigurehead from chat, lol. The show was awesome. I hope that with the success it will bring more possibilities for other Cure countdown shows. Nice talking to those of you who were there. I'm going to bed now, still listening to the Cure! :smth020
As Robert would say: "...and now I lay me down to dream" ;)
missed the broadcast. :(

i'm not surprised. perhaps robert should see this too (the list should be sent to him) and perhaps he'd finally take 'inbetween days' and boys don't cry' (which didn't even made the top 20!) off from constant repeat and stop insisting that they just "have to" play them... because they don't.
i'm slightly surprised that 'all cats are grey' made it to the top 20, though.
Well i'm surprised that 'BDC' & 'Inbetween Days' weren't on the Top 20...
& really didn't expect 'All Cats Are Grey'(even if it is a great tune).
Anyway, just for the records my votes...
1.Killing An Arab
2.A FOREST
3.FAiTH
4.THE FIGUREHEAD
5.The Lovecats
6.Inbetween Days
7.Just Like Heaven
8.Disintegration
9.''This Twilight Garden''
10.Bloodflowers
I have 8 of 10 of my vote:
1-Faith
2-The drowning man
3-A forest
4-The figurehead
5-100 years
6-The funeral party
7-The same deep water as you
8-Cold
9-Pornography
10-Disintegration

We've always shared the same opinion with 'All Cats Are Grey' haven't we. I'm very surprised to see it in the top 20 too. I thought Shake Dog Shake would have been in the top 20 for sure, oh well. And I didn't think 'From The Edge of The Deep Green Sea' would have made top 5, although it is an awesome track. The rest of the top 20 isn't a surprise, I'm glad the real fans voted on this one and it features a bunch of The Cure's darker tracks.

Yeah, I mean from a real Cure fan's perspective, those ones aren't really the real favorites from fans, like some of the songs like All Cats are Grey, The Drowning Man, etc. But I think that with the Top 20 show, a lot of the real fans voted, and not just the casual listeners. In a concert setting, I think that a lot of the people attending, sadly, are rich , casual fans who say "Oh, I remember the Cure, what did they sing? Oh, Just like Heaven! Lets go to the concert for something to do!" so then they have to play some of the more "crowd pleasing" songs. Too bad there aren't more people that would get into the darker stuff. Oh well, more music for us!

You're absolutely right. If you had everyone at a Cure gig filled out their top 20 I would guess that more hits would make the list. Probably quite a few wouldn't even know some of the songs that made it on last night! It's unfortunate for us die hards that the standards won't go away when it come to the live shows. You'd think with a show containing 30+ songs that Robert would find a better balance, though.
I listened and recorded the whole thing. I wish they would play cure songs every night.
I loved the show!
I had troubles with registering on chat, but I'm glad everything went fine...

They're playing now "The hungry ghost" at Phoenix FM

Mmm, very nice list, more pleasing for the die hard fans as has been mentioned. Robert should definitely hear about it if he hasn't already, he'll probably wee himself out of joy when he hears Faith is nr. 1. (http://www.getsmileyface.com/sm/happy/059.gif)
@
Strange Attraction: If you could upload the recording that would be great! Unless you're not allowed to do that, not sure...
Oh, and This Twilight Garden aaalmost made it to the Top 20 (nr. 22). (http://www.getsmileyface.com/new/angry/27.gif)
Thats a good idea maybe I will. If I do I'll post about it.
Well, that was a brilliant night :) Thanks again to Eddie!
It was great talking to some of you from here, MFC and COF!
I hope there will be another day when I hear 8 minute cure songs on the radio :).

A few of my favorite Faith songs in the top 20... very nice. :smth023
The results aren't really too surprising for me as hardcore fans usually have brilliant taste. The top 50 were really good. :)
I wasn't able to listen, but was there commentary from the DJ or was it just a run through of all the songs?
Just like to say this was fantastic.
And as well as being grateful to Eddie/Paul/Phoenix FM although I didn't join the chat I'd like to say thanks for embedding the station onto this site was helpful and much appreciated.
As someone mentioned already a recording of this would uber fab!
Coincidentally and completely unrelated I now have Karma praise be!(As it is swiftly removed)
totally awesome stuff
First time poster (actually just joined)...
Does someone have the Top 50 tally from this show? I'm curious and the PhoenixFM link appears to be dead...
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers,
Hully

http://curefans.com/index.php/topic,5505.msg58137.html#msg58137 (http://curefans.com/index.php/topic,5505.msg58137.html#msg58137)
The Top 20 was posted earlier on the thread I was requesting the Top 50 from. Another person commented that the Top 50 was a nice list. I know PhoenixFM used to have links to all of their Top 20 shows that showed every song that made the overall list, not just the Top 20.
So if anyone's got a list of the Top 50, I'd be very thankful.
