Parboiled Spareribs:
5 lb. pork loin country-style ribs
4/5 quart (26.5 oz.) white wine
1/4 cup lemon juice
Barbecue Sauce:
3 cups ketchup
1 cup water
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
To parboil spareribs: Boil ribs in wine and lemon juice for 1 hour. Cool ribs in liquid. Place ribs, still in wine liquid, in refrigerator for at least 6 hours.
To prepare barbecue sauce: Combine all ingredients and simmer 10 minutes.
To barbecue: Dip each sparerib in sauce before barbecuing. Place ribs on cooking grill for about 20 - 30 minutes turning occasionally. Baste with barbecue sauce last 15 minutes. Cook until ribs are glazed and tender.
