Option 1: Yes

Option 2: No

What is your opinion ??
I like the 2005 shows without keyboard but a keyboard add a good atmosphere in CURE song so I say YES for a keyboard
It's a little bit difficult. They showed us this year that they can do great music without keyboards. In the other way I think on the album they should use some keyboards because the variety of the sound. And for the next tour: I hope thay play "trust" and it would be great to see and hear Porl on keys during this song. We will see - I'm very excited. :D
I vote for "yes".
Cheers, Tr#
KEYBOARDS, KEYBOARDS, KEYBOARDS!!!
roger was great when he played 'trust'! :-D
Keyboards help round out the "Cure sound" and also, without keyboards, we wouldn't have great songs like Plainsong, Sinking, A Forest, etc. There is nothing better than hearing Robert Smith sing over 6-string bass and a wash of cascading synths... simply life changing.
i feel that it's very refreshing that there's a possibility to explore the arrangements of the songs in live performance - this year some songs felt really almost like resurrected with this 'no-keyboards treatment', even though i'm not sure they should always stay like that... i guess i'd hate it if the arrangements were totally fixed and never allowed to change, like they were too holy or something like that... and it's not just a question of arrangements/intruments, but also very much who is there playing the parts (long live porl!)
so i cannot really vote yes or no here...
;-)
i vote yes, but i still want to hear a more guitar sounding album. perhaps keys on 30% of the songs. keyboards have been such an important part of the cure's sound for so long now that you can't completely erase it.

Very cool!! 8)
I've got the same problem... :? :D
keyboards please, its not the same with out them
I've voted YES !
Robert recently said that the next album would contain keyboards. Strangely. ;)
Keyboards
i hope the Perry's back on the keyboards for 2006
I don't think so. But with a new line up, The Cure will renew themselves. We still feel it now, mainly because of Porl. :D
I'm not sure if the question was whether there will be keyboards or if there should be...
Porl has said that there will be. To what extent they will be used, who knows. I just wonder what they will do when they go on tour! :?
what about the 'faith' and 'pornography' tours, and there were only three then! and they still used keyboards, i voted yes, i think they will on the new album coz it kinda adds another dimension to the music, but in the live shows, who knows lets wait and see!
Just say yes!!!
Yes, Yes, Yes!
KEYBOARD KEYBOARD KEYBOARD KEYBOARD KEYBOARD KEYBOARD KEYBOARD KEYBOARD KEYBOARD KEYBOARD KEYBOARD KEYBOARD KEYBOARD KEYBOARD KEYBOARD KEYBOARD!!!!!!!!!!!! :-D
I love the keyboards, and I think they're very important to the sound of most Cure songs. I would definitely like to see them back. People have joked about an all-keyboard set at the Ultra Music Festival, but honestly, I think that would be fantastic. Very different, to be sure.
I'm not a big fan of keyboards BUT Keyboards are one of the pieces of this cure sound we all love…
they give a little melody to complete the song, or are a base to build an atmosphere…
Too much keyboards are bouring… too much guitar too… For example I don't really appreciate the songs BloodFlowers and From The edge… wich are really different…
but a mix of guitar and Keybords, like "Cold" for example or "plainsong" are f*cking great songs… and they are based on keyboards…
so…
I vote YES !
No kbds for the new l.p.
Just to hear how it will work out without them for one more
album like from the very beggining of Three Imaginary Boys...
p.s.:after all i think that Porl already said that they haven't play any of them on the new record...
Off course, yes!
Keyboards are an essential part of the cure musics for a long time now.
Yeah i've voted yes. I liked the 2005 interpretation of all the songs old and new sans keyboards but with some keyboard parts played on gee-tar. I think that The Cure should have keys in songs if they are warranted - imagine Sugar Girl without keys... then again, imagine Plainsong without keys!!!
In the context of a live environment I think we'll see Porl swapping between gee-tar and keys or maybe sampling...

I agree that keyboards are an essential part of the Cure and their music; however, now that Porl is back, I just want to hear them stripped down and rocking for awhile. Then they can go back to using keyboards later. One thing I like about the Cure is how well they can pull off anything from a 3 piece to a five piece ensemble.
that's true, look at the Yahoo session for instance.. that rocked. i wonder when we'll get to hear the other two tracks from that?

agreed too. i take it simply as meaning they not only have good songs but they also know how to play them.
if they only chose to use some of that inventiveness in how to put together their setlists... ;)
thats tough. the cure was really a great great record. maybe an organ or something vintage, not just atmosphere pads
id like to hear another the cure like record
I think there will be keyboards on the next album. Why not? Both Robert and Porl are good keyboardists as well as guitarists. Will they need them live? Who knows? We won't really know until we hear it. It would be cool if both Robert and Porl were switching between guitars and keyboards on the next tour though.
Sorry but for me NO keyboards...I like this formation, just ROCK :rocker :rocker :rocker
Every time I think of this sans-keyboards Cure, I feel like we're stuck with "Never Enough" on repeat. It's a good enough song, but The Cure really needs keys. I can't listen to "Never Enough" forever.
And I'm a bit confused by what you mean, askbill, by 'stripped down.' I don't see anything 'stripped down' about a Cure with Porl in it, who is a distortion guitarist by trade. I can't listen to the Festival 2005 version of "The Blood", with all those extra solo notes, and think of a stripped down sound.... I think The Dark Trilogy, and The Cure post-Perry and Roger, but prae-Porl, when it was just Jason, Simon, and Robert.
Explain, please?
keyboards, for god sake...
of course, keyboards :smth023
a slight variance on this topic:
conversley, some songs should NEVER have keyboards..
10:15 Saturday Night
Never Enough
Boys Don't Cry...
I'm sorry but when i heard a 2004 Tv version of 10:15 with keys, i was not impressed with the sounds. that song just doesn't need keys
YES,absolutely. At least one should be on stage. Many if not all well established live songs-
for example Disintegration-requiring a keyboard.Without it's not the same. :(
Two guitars, one keyboard and one bass... all necessary... one of the guitars can be robert's Bass VI though...
I think The Cure has shown us that they can produce astounding music with and without keyboards, but I still vote yes, simply because I love how they have incorporated synths into their music. It makes the tracks rather dreamy-like somehow (if that makes any type of sense), and I'm quite fond of that :)

Right.I'm not sure,if a second additional keyboard would be even better, especially for the eighties
tracks. ;)
