Option 1: Yes

Option 2: No

Robert Smith gave an interview after the Paleo Festival in Switzerland (yesterday) and said the band plan to tour South America after eastern next year, so that means after March/April. The genius said "We're supposed to go there just after Easter next year (...) we will play in Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Peru; I mean, Chile, Venezuela"

Quite sure you'd melt a fuse on this one...

I had planned to go back to Peru next year. So I will just wait now for the official announcement before buying the flight tickets. It would be awesome to see the best band of the planet in my own land!

Now hope it just isn't one more careless talk...
A "Kissing the top of the head" will be nice there, and it will revive memories of 1987's extravaganza (I personally don't think they plan anything but a trilogy, well certainly not promoting a new LP).

Either Robert doesn't lie anymore, or I was true when I said that they wouldn't be promoting a new LP : http://www.rts.ch/video/info/journal-continu/4146832-robert-smith-the-cure-je-me-soucie-plus-du-public.html (http://www.rts.ch/video/info/journal-continu/4146832-robert-smith-the-cure-je-me-soucie-plus-du-public.html)
(tend to think you're going to enjoy typical Curemania era - I mean a "real one", with a 1987 climax - kind of concerts)

Yeah, but he said that it would be even better if they release a new album. I think IF they tour South America, they will do with a new album. And either way, they will probably include some rare songs in the setlist. I mean, they went to Russia for the very first time and they played Cold!
You know he's always lying in interview, so don't believe it. ;)
I hope it will come true. BUT: I don't believe a new album will be finished before Easter next year.
And Mexico? Do you think for a probable date over there considering all the informations you have?
 i personally don't think so at the moment............... do you?

I don't trust anything of what Robert said. Until it's not written on www.thecure.com (http://www.thecure.com) I wouldn't do any plans.
When are they going to announce the date of the concert in Chile? I would love to see them, but they still haven't announced the official dates.. So, does anybody know something about it?

There's nothing confirmed about this, Robert just spoked about this in an interview. However, is not the first time he mentions South America, and as you know, The Cure have never returned since 1996.
The fact is we don't know if the band will play there. If they do, then we will publish the information as soon as we know (so just keep on eye on curefans.com ;). Usually the band embark in a World tour only when there's a new album (the last tour in 2007/2008 coincided with the 4:13 Dream album), so is logic to think that if they release something by the end of the year, then MAYBE they will tour the Americas. And maybe, South America.
We will see.

Yeah, that's what I thought :( I hope they do come to the Americas because I will be very sad if they don't. But thank you and I will make sure to come here frequently and check if there is any information about it ;)
Argentinian journalist and musician Camilo Garcia, has said in his Twitter account that "The Cure has confirmed dates in Buenos Aires -River Plate Stadium- for April or May next year". When asked if this was true, he said that this was "100% confirmed"

Of course, this is just a rumour and as such, don't believe too much in it until we have published the official date in our Live section (http://curefans.com/the-cure-live/) ;)
Brazilian journalist Lúcio Ribeiro: "The Cure will play Brazil in the first semester of 2013. The band will play three to five dates -already confirmed- including two in Sao Paulo"

"The English band, a dark icon, will go to Argentina. They will play in April, however, we don't know yet the precise date. However, it seems likely they will play on 3rd April. That day, a big event will take place"

Martin O'Gorman from London's XFM radio recently told British singer Lucy Rose that he hopes she gets "that support slot with The Cure when they hit South America next year..."
This is the first time I read someone from England mentioning The Cure's rumored 2013 South American tour. I definitely give this guy more credibility than to the South American media!
Plus, there is history between The Cure and XFM: if you remember, the band played in 13 June 1993 in Finsbury Park at a benefit concert for this radio station (this happened to be Boris William's last concert)
So if someone at XFM radio is saying The Cure is playing South America next year, then my hopes rise again!
Update:
We just spoke to Martin O'Gorman on Twitter, he confirmed us he got the info about the South American tour from COF, which at the same time took the info from the South American media (just like us), which has been proven to be not too reliable within the past decade.
Of course, this does not change anything, but it just means we don't have another source in the UK to backup the rumors about a possible South American tour spread by the media.
O'Gorman also said Simon Gallup is a fan of Lucy Rose, and during a meeting with her, he told her about The Cure in South America next year, and that she should investigate (the possibility of acting as support band). This does not means Lucy Rose will support The Cure, but of course, you never know.
By the way, he also said there's no connection between The Cure and XFM anymore.
Meet Lucy Rose (Simon Gallup is fan of hers)

Colombia's largest newspaper El Tiempo just reported that although Robert Smith has not mentioned this country in the probable South American Tour 2013, "several organizers are negotiating the possibility to include Bogota in the tour"
http://www.eltiempo.com/entretenimiento/musica/los-conciertos-que-prometen-para-el-2013_12471467-4 (http://www.eltiempo.com/entretenimiento/musica/los-conciertos-que-prometen-para-el-2013_12471467-4)
It would not be any surprise to see The Cure playing there, after all, several other artists have played there including Depeche Mode. Evenpro (http://www.evenpro.com/search/) seems to be the largest booking agency in Colombia.
The never-ending story goes on and on. ;)

Quote2 new articles, from Popload and Cancha General, are now claiming that the official announcement will be made on Saturday or Monday at the latest. Keep in mind that this will be the 3rd time that this announcement was supposed to be made, so be optimistic, but don't hold your breath. The articles claim the delay in announcing the tour are due to the band adding more dates to the tour. Instead of just playing in Argentina, Brazil, and Chile, the article claims that shows have been added in Peru, Columbia, and Paraguay. Is any of this actually true? Guess we'll find out on Monday.

I read about this but didn't want to post it because I am already tired about this South America never ending story
Anyway. The last gossip on this never ending story is that tickets for The Cure in Brazil will go on sale in the next 48 hours. See to believe...

Now is official
QuoteTHE MOMENT HAS ARRIVED!
Iconic British band The Cure announces its return to Latin America
with Shows in Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia and Mexico.
LONDON, January 28th, 2013.
The Cure, one of the worlds' most enduringly influential bands, at last returns to Latin America!
This iconic group, lead by singer and guitarist Robert Smith, has had an extraordinary career spanning more than 35 years and tens of millions of sales.
With a profusion of hit singles - including 'Boys Don't Cry', 'The Lovecats', 'Close To Me', 'Just Like Heaven' and 'Friday I'm In Love' - and a range of classic albums - including 'Pornography, 'Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me', 'Disintegration', 'Wish' and 'Bloodflowers' - the group has long been established as a global phenomenon.
While punk was still reverberating through popular culture, The Cure's unique blend of moody, atmospheric and unforgettable songs pioneered a new era in popular music and marked them for greatness from the start. Their strong sense of theatricality and unique styling gave birth to entirely new subcultures, and new generations continue to discover their signature sound and make it the soundtrack to their lives.
In April 2013, The Cure finally returns to South America after 17 years!
