A friend of mine told me about a cover of "Venus in furs" of Velvet Undeground, played live by the Cure at the beginning of the 80's. Does anybody know something about this tune?
Sounds intriguing if slightly implausible, mostly because to my limited knowledge the covers they've done are well documented - i.e. even if no recordings survived, it's generally well known they've performed this or that song (for instance Sinatra's Young at Heart). Though actually what do I know about what they did or did not perform before I was born...
Moreover, back then he did hang out a lot with/was somewhat under the influence of Severin, who was such a massive VU fan he took his name from that song... AND it has the following lyric: "Strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart"...
If you can ask your friend how/where he or she heard this rumour, it might be helpful to find out more!

He told me he had a tape (a bootleg) with this live and they sang venus in furs. He said he was the period Robert was with the Banshees. Thank you so much for the aswers

Well, a quick google search using "siouxsie" instead of "cure" in combination with "venus in furs" did the trick:

So I guess it was a Siouxsie & the Banshees bootleg he had on tape? (This sounds like a live recording in the youtube link - not sure when it was recorded... no idea if Robert was on guitar for this.)
