I had no idea... good thing I kept away from him instinctively! (Worked quite well so far, I have also kept away from Morrissey, Roger Waters (solo) and some others!)

What's wrong with Roger Waters?

Well, it turns out Beck publicly declared in 2019 he no longer is a Scientologist. I didn't know, and it's certainly good news. I actually like his album Morning Phase because it reminds me of Pink Floyd's Summer 69, the one sung by Richard Wright.

Nothing... or everything, depending on who you ask.
I found this, great "fun" to read:

Good grief! Dark side and The Wall will always remain among my favourite PF's albums regardless, though the suite side of Atom Heart Mother is the real masterpiece. Can't stand them anymore now because I listened to all of them ab nauseam, but still are among my greatest, and they are the reason why I barely tolerate guitar-focused albums now. I've tried to listen to Waters' new version of Dark Side of the Moon and, well, it's basically him talking all the time, kind of disrespectful at times. I could accept some parts of it, but when it was the "new" Eclipse version's turn, I just couldn't bear it. That's too much!!

Was this the Joe Strummer's side project? I don't remember much about it

No, it's Mick Jones' project (he'd started it after leaving The Clash in the mid 80s)!

This one is a Joe Strummer project (drumming by Rat Scabies, who celebrates his 70th today!):

Good to know, thanks. The damned are you favourite band, aside The Cure, aren't they? I don't know much about their music, though apparently Marc Almond (another favourite artist of mine) is touring with them in 2026 with one of his side projects, The Loveless...

Yes, he is announced as one of the support acts for their 50th anniversary concert at Wembley '26.

The Damned (kinda) started my interest in "dark" music with this:

Quite the song! I'll check the entire album out. Vanian seems to share a taste for the theatrical flare with Marc Almond, I can see why they might think of playing together... My interest in "dark" music (which was actually how goth+new wave+postpunk combined used to be called in Italy back in the eighties btw) started with A forest by The Cure, and Isolation by Joy Division. My first real "Marc Almond moment" instead was Something's gotten hold of my heart, the duet with Gene Pitney..

Yes, they do. They even shared a backing band (the tracks were released much later though), when Vanian's "Phantom Chords" played for Marc Almond:

Yeah, back in the 80s it was enough to say that you liked "punk & new wave" and it included everything from The Clash via Killing Joke up to The Sisters Of Bauhaus.  ;)

Can't view the vid, but I know the song well, it was a hit single back in the late 80s and still gets played on German daytime radio stations, in fact I heard it last week on SWR1!

I'll change the link from my pc then... Does Vanian also adore Brel like Marc does, I wonder?
