Question to whoever wants to please answer:  Me and my buddies are going to this Chicgao show to see the Cure for the first time :smth023.  we read all the posts from previous shows and check out how awesome their set lists are.  i'm assuming that they base their set lists on how the feel that night right?  The Mexico shows  :smth028 had some pretty intense set lists and at the Warsaw show last night it sounds like they played some pretty nice fan favorites :rocker.  just wondering what we might expect in Chicago.   :-D

I'd expect something similar to what they played on the first couple of shows during the European leg.

I'd expect the same.  That way, if they bust out something else you'll be surprised!

Judging from past history, I'd say that the North American leg of the tour might be a lot more interesting than the European one. For one, there *should* be a new album out by then, and they will be more likely to draw songs from that.

Also, I can't think of many years where Robert didn't suddenly get the idea to make the setlists more interesting during the last month or two of the tour.

Just look at the later shows from 1987, 1989, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004. You could even say the same about 2007, as the the Mexico shows were the last.

The Tinley Park show in 2004 had a pretty bland setlist, but that was in the middle of a "mini-tour", which never really had a chance to develop into much.

Booked hotel at the Holiday Inn in Elk Grove.  $49 a night through Hotwire.  Nonrefundable, so I hope everything works out!

30 days until I leave for the concert!!!!  Heck ya baby.  A little nervous, I was on day 28 last year when I found out the Sept show was postponed.

Well I was originally going to wait till the Cleveland tickets went on sale to see another Cure show.  I was going to take a week off & visit the city but I won't be able to take the time off in June so I decided to visit a friend in Chicago the weekend of the Cure Chicago Concert.

I'll be going solo since she doesn't like them but I've gone to concerts by myself in the past.  Looks like quite a few fans on here are going to this show.  I'm looking forward to the show & visiting Chicago too.  Can't wait to try out some of that great Chicago food. Any good place to try out while I'm there?  Anyone meeting up before the show???  :smth023

That would be cool!  Are you talking about Chicago, Philly or both?  I'm definitively up to meeting ya & anyone else going to both shows! Let me know if anything get planned!

Thanks!  :-D

Scary Lady Sarah

Greetings from Berlin!

This is my first post here- hope this is ok to add this. I also hope to see/meet many other fans at our after-show party!  We (the Nocturna crew) have been spinning the music of The Cure for 20 years at our events & are excited about the whole night!   :smth020

- Saturday, 17 May 2008
Nocturna (monthly dark alternative club night)
- with DJ Scary Lady Sarah

- held at Metro, 3730 N. Clark Street, Chicago
- 18 and over welcome!
- 11pm - 5am
- $10. (or $5. w/ Cure ticket)

**This month's Nocturna is also a special after-party for THE CURE.  Just show your Cure concert ticket stub from their earlier concert the same night and get in to Nocturna for half price!  We'll also be playing a heavier than usual amount of the music of The Cure and related projects throughout the night.**

Nocturna is an 18+ dark alternative dance night held once a month in Chicago. DJ Scary Lady Sarah (flying in monthly from Berlin, Germany) spins a highly request-driven mix of current & classic music generally of the goth, industrial, post-punk, deathrock, ethereal, shoegaze, new wave, ebm, darkwave & dark indie varieties.

Nocturna is an American Gothic Productions event. http://www.americangothicprod.com

So I have a "dumb" question (this is my first Cure concert).  My sister once told me that when bands perform they follow the same setlist, and the encores are the only thing that is different.  However, I have noticed by looking at the shows that have already been performed here in the states, that they aren't the same.  (Even though alot of the songs are the same but not all)  Is this something special that the Cure does?  Than again, it seems kind of nice to be pleasantly surprised.     I am leaving 2 1/2 days!!!!  Oh the nerves...
