I never complained about the whole thing. I think the main set was pretty marvelous, i just think they should switch the encores around a bit. I didn't say the band was boring, they are the best band on the planet and when i go and see them they could play one song and that would be brilliant.
Sorry if i sounded childish and ungrateful, i didn't mean to be.

I'm sorry I singled out your quote Hero, I wasn't just having a shot at you, please don't think that...just I have read several comments LIKE yours, and I just got a little peed off...you know, the man (Robert) is pushing 50, the others are no spring chickens ( except for the drummer, early 40's!) they are doing a huge tour, night after night, 3 hours, for the fans... and no, I'm not an "I love Robert no matter what" fan, I am just being realistic, looking at it from a different aspect I guess.. the superhuman effort being made by the guys is, quite frankly, amazing...

Have to say that this was a marvellous show. As I think someone has said, but they are on fire at the minute. A much better performance than when I saw them last on the Festival tour a couple of summers ago. I've always wanted them to bring the keyboards back, but they didn't seem to miss them so much this time. I thought the atmosphere was pretty good where we were, just past the barrier at the front. The people wandering through the crowd selling drink probably helped improve the atmosphere, everyone was jumping about by the time of the encores. Robert seemed in great form.
Went to a Cure party in some club nearby afterwards. It was good fun & funny to see 100 people dancing to faith, followed by At night. The conga to Love will tear us apart didn't go down so well.
My girlfiend would not listen to my pleas to be allowed to goto Berlin (we go there on holiday next weekend). Oh well. Bring on Wembley! Maybe even another one inbetween.

People would also moan if they did the encores you all want too. Just different people.

that's actually quite right. i think the moment that we stop moaning about it is the moment we no longer care and after that, who cares? so as long as we are moaning, we're still alive... and still into it.

personally i'd hope they'd bury that freak-thing somewhere where the light does not ever shine (i've heard it too many times already thankyou very much bob thankyou kindly!). them again, it hasn't managed to ruin the shows for me - i just have to close my ears and pretend not to be there for about 4 minutes when it starts (although it's one damn big waste of good and active show time, yes it is...).

anyway, it's a really bit strange to me that robert seems to be so fascinated by those screaming teenagers since he wants to keep on pleasing them and keep on doing that silly pop encore stuff (and even extends it, like in berlin). maybe it's narcistic, he finds the screamers somehow flattering...? i don't get it. he could deliver a KILLER set to us if he only wanted to, yet he chooses to make a fool of himself every night  hard to say what's behind it all...
anyway! let's take everything out of this embarrassing situation and let's have a cure karaoke in paris: everyone can sing 'freak show' and deliver his/her favorite rendition of this recent lovely master piece. then let's make a recording out of it and send it to ol' bob as a token of our... ehmm, true faith.
maybe he'd get it then... how about that?

a good question. i was just about to ask the same, actually!
at least i haven't come across anything lately - if he has even given any recent interviews at all?
all seems/seemed to have been pretty quiet on the info/interview front before the tour...

I don't think, that Freak Show is that bad. I liked it much more than Please Project. In every case A Boy I Never Knew is the best of the new songs. But generally I have nothing against a pop encore, but I would choose different songs for it. I would die to hear Lovecats (it was on the setlist for Hamburg) or The 13th or The Caterpillar.

hell yeah, bring on the caterpillar!! i'd have no objections to that...
but that's a great and inspirational piece of music, good ol' caterpillar. whereas 'freak show' is like ol' bob's unwashed underpants
= a piece of him i really wouldn't have needed to ever know/see/hear/experience.

I agree,    :smth023  ( except about Freak Show)  Lovecats, or The Caterpillar or even the 13th.. are great pop encores..
but A Boy I Never Knew is my fav. from the newbies..  I am still not that hot about Please Project yet..  :?

@JB.. i like where you're coming form with the 'Freak Show' lines.. but i really don't want to think of Bob's underwear thanks!!

Trouble is, this lineup is limiting.  They could *never* do The 13th without keyboards.

me neither! so the less 'freak show' the better!
@bob: no underpants please, but show us some respectable piece of yourself thankyouverymuch!

(you know we were joking with a few friends in berlin how the next person who even mentions the words/name 'freak show' will get a punch in the face because everyone was repeating it all the time, how awful it was and annoyzing each other by singing a line or two from it hahaha)

true. but even without it (the 13th), they've still have a lot of other songs to choose from... if they only wanted to.

Normally they also can't do Lovecats or Plainsong or Close To Me without keyboards. But the do. So why not try The 13th? But of course I know that this will not happen
