come on, 20 is just getting wayyy too easy... it loses meaning.

so make it three! what are the three ones that matter most?

No it isn't!  There are artists I didn't list on either list that I would have liked to. And there are other albums from artists listed that I also like just as much as the ones listed.  Not easy chosing just one.

it is... think of it this way: your house is on fire, you can only grab 3 things with you while you run out and all the rest of it WILL burn - what three things will you take?
try the same with "what 20 things you would take?" and surely you'd start grabbing all kinds of not so important things with you. the smaller the number, the more it matters.

(or at least should matter. i do admit that in a burning house situation i might panic and grab something really silly, like yesterday's newspaper, toothbrush and an umbrella. :-P
so maybe it's a really question of easy/difficult: maybe what i meant was that it's somehow more interesting to read through other people's lists when they are really focused - long lists are a lot less profiled somehow.
at least for me it's that way.

by the way i'm sitll not sure what three albums i'd pick. but i'd leave the umbrella, definitely.)

sorry this is off-topic, but it reminded me of this:
(and sorry it's horrible out of synch, i really don't know why. the original is fine... this is why i hate youtube & co. - one reason why i hate them. anyway.)

KingOfSomeIsland

The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
Amazing album, These songs are so amazingly crafted from start to finish, every single track has something to love about it.

Manic Street Preachers - Generation Terrorists
Choosing just one album from these guys was torture their first 5 albums are all gems. This is the definitive Manics album though, Motorcycle Emptiness and Little Baby Nothing are unbeatable.

Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes
The same goes for this one, I had an extremely difficult time choosing between this and Boys for Pele. This one is better for the simple fact that it doesnt have any weak tracks wheras BFP has 2 or 3.

Pulp - This is Hardcore
Another tough choice, this and Different Class are both totally solid from start to finish, but this one has a wayyyyyy better opener.

The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
This one gets a hands down victory. No matter how many half-assed reunion albums these guys put out this will always be their masterwork.

Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
These guys have too many albums, too many great albums, and crap albums. You gotta love Sonic Youth tho.

Talulah Gosh - Backwash
Best twee pop album ever, a shame they only ever released one before fading into obscurity.

The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico
No explanation needed.

The White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan
I actually hated this one at first but it grew on me insanely, Its the deepest and most original White Stripes album, very underrated.

Neil Young - Harvest
I decided not to put any live albums on my list otherwise Weld wouldve definitely taken this spot. Its a truly classic album

Honorable Mentions:
Arcade Fire - Funeral
Dave Matthews Band - Crash
Desaparcedos - Read Music, Speak Spanish
The Elected - Sun Sun Sun
The Indelicates - American Demo
Pearl Jam - Vitalogy
Primal Scream - Screamadelica
REM - Reckoner
Radiohead - OK Computer
U2 - The Joshua Tree

Oh yeah, how could I not have included this LP in my first list?????? I recall when it hit the airwaves, WOW, what a box about the ears this was! I really reckon that this album was as exciting if not more so (as it was closer to my 'generation') than the Sex Pistols LP back in the 70's... for getting teens 'angry' again anyways! Glad you like it to! I wonder how Mr Cobain would be (musically) nowadays had he lived on?!

Now, bloody entertain me!!!! (hehehe)
