I actually just got into The Cure a few weeks ago after hearing "Lullaby," from Disintegration. On that basis, I kind of started off with Disintegration with beautiful results; I can't stop listening to this album, but the question beckons: What more would I like or should go to next if I really like Disintegration? I'd really like to say that I listen to more than one album by them, and it's bothersome to say that I can't.

Well since this album seems to be the most favoured by Curefans world wide (not by me though) the risk is that you have already tested and tasted the top of their production. But I really think that you should listen in to the Cure in a cronologic way. Start with Three Imaginary Boys and take it from there. My personal favourite is Seventeen Seconds and most of their live performances between 1980 and 1985.

Given the fact that you like Disintegration I would suggest the other two albums of the so-called "Trilogy", that means "Bloodflowers" and "Pornography". I will then continue with any of the rest albums in no particular order.

Who and when started this talk about these three albums being a trilogy? Is it quoted from RS himself or is it a fan thing? To start with, both fans and rewievers, used to talk about "Seventeen Seconds", "Faith", and "Pornography" as a trilogy.

For me the trilogy is the one you mentioned above, but for Robert Smith the trilogy started with Pornography, then Disintegration and then Bloodflowers, hence the name of the "Trilogy Concerts" in 2002. I don't think is a bad idea to follow that path either, given he has started with Disintegration.

Ay. I agree with You about the albums from the early 80´s are "The Trilogy" but I vaguely understand the making of this new trilogy and to me it feels more as a construction made afterwards (even though 17 Sec, Faith, and Pornography maybe isn´t any real trilogy either). And for me this new trilogy seems to have no real theme or thread. Pornography being much of a dystopia with its very dark theme, while Disintegration is more of a bunch of songs put together more losely (not my favorite album as You might know) and then Bloodflowers with its almost orchestral sound and in my ears very sophisticated and beautiful songs are to be a rather dark but still beautiful popalbum more of a follower to Seventeen Seconds and Faith.

So I don´t really see the immediate and direct connection between these three album more than maybe it´s a flirt from the band to the fans.

I suggest you jump to "Kiss me..." because there are so many styles of the cure on this album (and its just one of their best) you also can't go wrong with "Faith"
