And I thought I was a "hard core" Cure fan....

You all put me to shame.

I have been a cure fan since 1987.  I got turned on to The Cure when two friends (fans) bought tickets to the Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me concert in 1987.  I had never heard of the band.  I then saw the video for "Just Like Heaven" and was hypnotized.  I ran out and and bought the CD.  I missed that concert, but my life has never been the same since.

Over the years, my musical tastes have ebbed and flowed between Death Metal and SKA punk like Dead Kennedys, all the way to Middle Eastern Indian Instrumental Sitar music,  and the workings of Ravi Shankar..  But only ONE band has been present ALL the way through - The Cure.

My 9 and 11 year old sons love listening to some of my CD's - Given the above range, my wife does not allow them to listen to too much of my library, but she does allow them (and they take to) my Cure CD's.  Their school had an "80's" day where kids dressed up in 80's era clohthing... My younger son asked me to help him dress like Robert!   8)

Many years ago, as a teenager, I rented "In Orange" - and fell in love with that concert.  About a year later, the video retnal store was selling their "used" copy of the VHS, and I snapped it up... Watched it over, and over, and over... Could not get enough of it.  I then made a cassette copy of the audio (did not have a CD player in my car) and listend to that until it wore out.

Cleaning out a closet last week, I stumbled accross that old VHS.  I popped it in, and BAM - It hit me again like a ton of bricks...   This time, I made a digital copy of the audio, and have not been able to put that down.

My favorite Cure albums are some of the older ones...
Pornography, Faith, Head on the Door, Kiss Me,

I could not come up with "favorite songs".. WAY to many...   And they change with my moods.  But I have noticed on this site (which by the way - I have just started looking at) that "The Forest" seems to have a pretty strong following... I can tell you that "The Forest" from "In Orange" comes pretty close to being an all time favorite.

I have only seen them live once... 07-13-1992 - Minneapolis, Mn - USA

I dream of having them come back again... But I'm not going to hold my breath....

Anyway - Thanks for such a great site... I feel "re-energized" about the Cure!  I'll be in touch.

Welcome D, to the best Cure forum on the internet!!!  And, if I remember correctly, the Minneapolis 92 show has been shared here in the past.

Welcome, neighbor. :D

I first saw them almost exactly four years later at the same venue. Attendance was relatively poor that year, so I think that turned them off to the area. A real shame since they had come so many times before...

Hope you enjoy your time here. :-D
