Hello everyone,
perhaps there's a rule for this somewhere on the website and I couldn't find it, so forgive me if I ask sth quite dumb, but I'm gonna ask it anyway: what is the right way to copy and paste a link to a record from Youtube? I can't seem to understand how it works. You know, for the Currently listening to thread. I love sharing what I'm listening to, so it would be nice to understand how it works.
Thanks for your patience.
Sacha.

Well I go online with a computer, not a smartphone, so forgive me if you can't see what I see here...

Up above the post there are little symbols (above the choice of smileys), one is the youtube symbol, if you click on this, you can copy and paste the link from youtube in there, then post it.  :cool
... and every voice belongs to you...

Thank you! What about choosing a picture for my profile? How do I do that?
I also generally prefer to log in from the computer... Thank you again.

I had to look it up (years ago when I did this).

You go top left, click on your profile name, then "Profile Details", there you can click on "upload an avatar", choose a file and upload. Hope this works.

(If you don't wanna do this, there are a few more options.)

I checked, and it worked. I've just changed my profile and included the picture. Thank you! I'll try to do the same with the links from youtube (does it work the same way if links are from bandcamp? I use it more than youtube for music...)

No, there is no special bandcamp symbol or anything; just posting the link is what's to do.

Will do, thank you. I was wondering... I saw that it's possible to include Skype's account on your personal profile. I think Skype is going to be closed down in a month or so, though. Perhaps administrators might wish to replace it with something else, like Meet?
Provided that people here still wish to meet up somewhere to talk... BTW, have you ever thought about organizing fan meetings on Zoom?

Any chance of that, @dsanchez ?

My PC does not even have a camera, thus: No, I haven't.

Well, if you have a smartphone, you could download the app and use a mobile-friendly version of Zoom. Free meetings only last for 30-40 minutes (longer ones are allowed to paying subscribers only), so your neck won't hurt... I've tried it myself.

Nope. Not yet, at least. Maybe someday. Camera won't be used much though. The internet is a 2-way-thing and you can never know who else is watching...  :1f62b:

we have done Twitter Spaces in the past:

maybe we will organize something similar in the future. Could work with Zoom too.

I see your point. The internet has turned into poison because of social media. We were promised access to unlimited knowledge and unprecedented freedom of connecting to anybody anywhere in the world, and what we've gained instead was going straight back into the age of surveillance. It is indeed scary, though living without a smartphone would be very difficult for me, and ditching social media altogether is almost impossible, for several reasons.

Actually, I've deleted my X account a while back as a form of active resistance against fascism. Anyway, thanks for the link. I hope you'll organize something on Zoom in the future!

Well I do use Facebook (only on the PC) to keep in touch with friends far (UK, USA) and near, plus I share photos there and some people "like" them.

The internet, like many useful things, is a two-sided sword. I found many "like-minded" people on the net, Cure fans and more.
However, as you say, monitoring our shopping habits and surveillance is not what I looked for...
