another fun-choice, though not surprising, excellent venue - but only if it is sold-out or almost sold-out, otherwise it can look + feel very cold inside, I simply fear the Arena is a bit too big, hopefully a few people turn up

I wouldn't worry that the Color Line Arena will sell out very fast. The Capacity is ca. 15 000
that is a lot   :)

I'm really looking forward to the concert. I like the Arena, because i've got it in good memories  :)

anyone else going from hamburg to berlin by train?
i'm considering to take the 10:05 am  (from hamburg), or the next one (11:03).
it seems reasonable to buy tickets in advance since the prices can be lower.

must be the setlist... nothing to comment on what hasn't been said before. Only 'surprise' being Hot Hot Hot - lovely, one of the songs I absolutely can't stand (for me one of their worst singles EVER - a song I always hope they'll never play again), thanks for the livecoverage tonight again, though! hm, the next concerts I will probably just check the next morning if they played something rather unexpected.

Sorry, had to go to the police station for a bit. I'm moving to my parents these last weeks and when you want to move (and you bring your stuff with you) you have to request a permission to the police :? (if they stop me on the way and I don't have this permission, they might think I'm stealing from someone else :P). Crazy country, I know!

Again thanks to japanesebaby for their awesome contribution!

EXACTLY!!! 3 hours, every night, belting out songs...maybe because everyone is following it on here, the encores seem "boring"...if you just went to the show, without knowing what they were going to play, probably have a different attitude..
I mean, if it's so boring, don't go when they come to your country..hmm??

@melly

Well bl00dy said.

I can't think of another band that does that.
& for those who think a "good" set list is the magic solution, just put that Festival DVD on.
What a load of rubbish. A brilliant selection of songs, badly performed & badly filmed.
Only DVD I can think of that's worse is The Song Remains The Same.
Sloppy performances of good songs are worse than good performances of bad ones IMHO.

I never complained about the whole thing. I think the main set was pretty marvelous, i just think they should switch the encores around a bit. I didn't say the band was boring, they are the best band on the planet and when i go and see them they could play one song and that would be brilliant.
Sorry if i sounded childish and ungrateful, i didn't mean to be.

Hm, I enyoyed the gig. Ok, some of their songs are still boring me to death ( POY, Open, Please Project,...), but most of them are brillant ( Hot, Hot, Hot, Prayers for rain,  Disintegration, 100 Years and the encores ).

The worst of all -> my favorite song ( It used to me ) has never been performed so far...:-((

Yesterday's show in Hamburg was really great. Best for me was How Beautiful You Are, Jumping, To Wish Impossible Things and Prayers.
After the show I got the setlist from the mixing desk and on it are 5 additional songs. If Only Tonight and The Kiss at the end of the mainset. The Lovecats to begin the pop encore and TIB and FIC at the beginning of the last encore. What a pitty, they didn't play these songs.

Sorry if i sounded childish and ungrateful, i didn't mean to be.

I'm sorry I singled out your quote Hero, I wasn't just having a shot at you, please don't think that...just I have read several comments LIKE yours, and I just got a little peed off...you know, the man (Robert) is pushing 50, the others are no spring chickens ( except for the drummer, early 40's!) they are doing a huge tour, night after night, 3 hours, for the fans... and no, I'm not an "I love Robert no matter what" fan, I am just being realistic, looking at it from a different aspect I guess.. the superhuman effort being made by the guys is, quite frankly, amazing...

Have to say that this was a marvellous show. As I think someone has said, but they are on fire at the minute. A much better performance than when I saw them last on the Festival tour a couple of summers ago. I've always wanted them to bring the keyboards back, but they didn't seem to miss them so much this time. I thought the atmosphere was pretty good where we were, just past the barrier at the front. The people wandering through the crowd selling drink probably helped improve the atmosphere, everyone was jumping about by the time of the encores. Robert seemed in great form.
Went to a Cure party in some club nearby afterwards. It was good fun & funny to see 100 people dancing to faith, followed by At night. The conga to Love will tear us apart didn't go down so well.
My girlfiend would not listen to my pleas to be allowed to goto Berlin (we go there on holiday next weekend). Oh well. Bring on Wembley! Maybe even another one inbetween.

that's actually quite right. i think the moment that we stop moaning about it is the moment we no longer care and after that, who cares? so as long as we are moaning, we're still alive... and still into it.

personally i'd hope they'd bury that freak-thing somewhere where the light does not ever shine (i've heard it too many times already thankyou very much bob thankyou kindly!). them again, it hasn't managed to ruin the shows for me - i just have to close my ears and pretend not to be there for about 4 minutes when it starts (although it's one damn big waste of good and active show time, yes it is...).

anyway, it's a really bit strange to me that robert seems to be so fascinated by those screaming teenagers since he wants to keep on pleasing them and keep on doing that silly pop encore stuff (and even extends it, like in berlin). maybe it's narcistic, he finds the screamers somehow flattering...? i don't get it. he could deliver a KILLER set to us if he only wanted to, yet he chooses to make a fool of himself every night  hard to say what's behind it all...
anyway! let's take everything out of this embarrassing situation and let's have a cure karaoke in paris: everyone can sing 'freak show' and deliver his/her favorite rendition of this recent lovely master piece. then let's make a recording out of it and send it to ol' bob as a token of our... ehmm, true faith.
maybe he'd get it then... how about that?

I don't think, that Freak Show is that bad. I liked it much more than Please Project. In every case A Boy I Never Knew is the best of the new songs. But generally I have nothing against a pop encore, but I would choose different songs for it. I would die to hear Lovecats (it was on the setlist for Hamburg) or The 13th or The Caterpillar.

hell yeah, bring on the caterpillar!! i'd have no objections to that...
but that's a great and inspirational piece of music, good ol' caterpillar. whereas 'freak show' is like ol' bob's unwashed underpants

I agree,    :smth023  ( except about Freak Show)  Lovecats, or The Caterpillar or even the 13th.. are great pop encores..
but A Boy I Never Knew is my fav. from the newbies..  I am still not that hot about Please Project yet..  :?

(you know we were joking with a few friends in berlin how the next person who even mentions the words/name 'freak show' will get a punch in the face because everyone was repeating it all the time, how awful it was and annoyzing each other by singing a line or two from it hahaha)

True.  Maybe I'm just not creative enough to imagine it that way.  Naturally, there are many other songs that could work well with this lineup that they just won't play.  Though we're only five shows into the Europe leg.  An awful lot could happen.....  I just don't want those same three encores every show.

well, to each his/her own then, i guess.
imo 'freak show' is not even a cure song, it's just something totally alien and dreadful for them to do... when they start playing it, i get a feeling like "what is going on here, what band is this, i mean... WTF???"
i'd say let all those backstreetboyzz do that sort of brainless stuff - bob should have better ideas underneath his wig...

so i'm not against pop songs as such - but the cure could always write hell of a lot better pop songs than that!
this is some cheapo discount stuff.

No thanks!  I think there are a few shows where we can be almost certain that something special will happen, and Paris is certainly one of them!

Unfortunatly, we'll likely be back to cookie-cutter pop sets by the time I see them in the US in May.   :(

and yes, in life we tend to get used to things we don't like (because we often have no choice). yet getting used to something doesn't mean it became less bad... getting used to bad things is scary...

by the way i suggest the cure should play 'numb' next to 'freak show', those two would fit together nicely!
