These hoser poser losers that come from American Idol and sing the wimpiest most whitebread songs ever, no meaning or heart, all about happiness, parties, and love. Where's the storytelling?

Where's the heartbreat and emotion? Where's the music? Coming from a band that backed up Nsync, probably. Crap music, taking over the mainstream alongside country and rap (AKA crap)

Ugh, I hate these popstars....

gotta say... the seasons they've held here.. only one idol i went and bought 2nd CD.. Damien Leith.. Irish boy... when he sang.. I'd cry.. Not to stop !! (like the last season just finished.. which I didn't even watch!!) He has a voice of an angel. Could be my liking of classical music and operas.. ?
I'm definately NOT into Idol shows or the likes... I'd rather torture myself  :smth077 :smth068 :smth063 :smth064 :smth062 :smth015

Whilst I am not a fan of "pop" music; even as a teenager (in days of old when knights were bold) my "best" friend would be bopping along to the likes of Johnny Farnham   and my tastes were David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, T-Rex- [how I cried when Marc Bolan died!!] etc etc.. I do enjoy the Aussie Idol series... I so enjoy watching the young ones, putting themselves out there, trying to realise their dreams. Yes, they are made to sing covers most of the time, and that can really make you cringe, but when they get the chance to sing their own compositions, or play their favourite instrument, they shine. The wannabes and the figjams soon get expelled by the general public, and as I watch, week by week, I see them grow in confidence, in style and that sparkle in their eyes is magic. The latest winner here, Natalie, has a powerful, wonderful voice, and composes her own songs. I just hope they don't turn her into a pop princess, that would be such a shame, such a waste. I agree about Damien Leith, what a beautiful, haunting voice he has! Hopefully, Natalie will be able to express herself, and realise that life-long dream she has had. I just love watching them, and I hope their dreams come true...

some time ago i just tried for about a hundredth time or os to get into REM (i assure you, i've really tried!). but let's face it, i don't understand what's so great and special about them.
not that i absolutely hate them or anything, i just find them thoroughly... boring and uninspiring (for me). they always leave me completely cold, both intellectually and emotionally.

(just my opinion. please no battling over it... )

*edit: there is actually one song by them which i seriously cannot stand: "everybody hurts". i'd say that's seriously one of the most annoying songs out there, ever, if i was asked to choose).

Have you ever listened to this?

http://mx.youtube.com/watch?v=egs29QJq_Q8#18

It's from "Murmur", their first album.

Or this?

http://mx.youtube.com/watch?v=2WkOsIXXN-E#18

It's from "Out of Time".

Anyway, there's nothing wrong if you don't like them. Any group will be an acquired taste of some sort, one way or the other. I'll be the first to admit that it's been a long time since I've wanted to listen to any of their albums... But I still consider most of their stuff until "Out of Time" to be either good or very good.

Well this is kinda silly cause what one doesn´t like one just avoid. But still I can´t keep away from this thread.

Of the so called "respectable artists" I don´t care much for Bruce Springsteen. I do like the album "The Ghost of Tom Joad" (which is free from Mr Clemons saxophone) but otherwise I just find his music boring. He seems to be a great artist though and seems to care a lot for his fans.

I also find it very much hard work to listen to The Clash. I´d really tried to like this band cause I think that Mr Strummer seems to have a great passion for his music and I like to see interviews with the members of the band. They all seem so keen and devoted to what they do/did. But I just don´t like it the wat it came out.

And as was said above by japanesebaby I also have an issue with REM. Mr Yorke has a great voice but the music is just way to pretentious for my taste.

Among the new bands I really don´t understand the hype around Glasvegas. I red somewhere in a Swedish newspaper (and then it´s most likely quoted from an american or brittish magazine) that this band is the saviour of modern rock. It couldn´t be more wrong. They just sounds dull and grey to me and further on they sound a lot like a Swedish band called Broder Daniel which were the greyest of the grey even though they would like to think of themselves as if they were depressively deep and suicidal black.

Forgive my moaning.

i suppose you mean michael stipe(?) - or are you talking about radiohead instead?

(REM's 'everybody hurts' especially is a song i've never been able to stand. i've never really understood why but it just drives me nuts, every single time. :smth093)

forgive me my flaws...

I think She Wants Revenge are terrible, and post-Turn On The Bright Lights era Interpol is pretty dull, I'd say, musically speaking.  Live, Interpol have always been boring.

Sorry. Big Mistake. I ment Michael Stipe but I intent to mention Radiohead aswell so I sort of mash them, unintentionally, together in one single blow. Sorry JB, it was never my intention to misquote You.

hey no problem, no need to be sorry about anything! i knew it was probably just a confusion, just asked to be sure.

about radiohead: i used to have problems with radiohead in the (mid) '90s - early 2000's, from around time that 'OK computer' had come out and everyone seemed to be talking about it. how it (and other radiohead albums) always was very high on all kinds of "greatest albums of all time". i tried to listen to it many times but couldn't really get into it. then i happened to listen to some live recordings (from 1997 i think) and suddenly that sort of made it accessible to me, even the studio albums.
perhaps i still don't call myself a fan but i do find myself listening to them from time to time. and would really like to catch them live someday.

Funny, because I felt the same way about Radiohead for years.  It wasn't until I heard some live stuff that convinced me I should give them a fair shake.  Finally saw them live this summer and glad I did.   :rocker  http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=211196

hello, it was interesting to read the bands/groups that other curefans.com members like, yet i am curious to know what you guys dislike as well. i will get the ball rolling...

beastie boys (have never ever ever liked them)
coldplay (sorry, sounds like hardcore elevator music to me)
nirvana (i know, i know, just never got into them)
the killers (do i really need to explain this?)
U2 (way too trendy, and it's not cool when your grama owns joshua tree)
joy division (his voice bothers me)
korn (it was literally hate at first listen)
sublime (no explanation for this, i just don't)

not a fan of most newer bands, oh and definitely no rap (can't spell crap without rap)   :smth023
