Paris and Concert are my favourites.

I love the versions of 'Charlotte Sometimes' on these.

For some reason the songs on "Paris" just don;t flow right. Its a great collection of songs that dont mesh well.

"Show" has a lot of the hits and is not my ideal set list by far but the band sounds great and its the only version of "Picture of You" I still listen to.

Definitely Show[Deluxe] for me, with Entreat as a close second. No clumsy mastering on either, and no over abundance of muddy bass like Entreat plus. I am quite fond of the 1992 Kilburn recording, which is like Show, yet different in "sound" if that makes any sense.

02 Paris
03 Show
Although it's not official, I have to mention here "Shellfish's advice". A live album from the US tour
1990 with versions of "Three imaginary boys" and "Faith"on it. Absolute worth hearing.

Was there a tour of USA in 1990?  :?

Anyhow, it was printed on the backside of the CD, probably a one-off.
I'm assuming that Laurence is the copyright holder of the recordings. The words
of the title would indicate this. From my point of view the version from "Faith" is better than
the version on "Charlotte sometimes" (live in Australia).

Seems like you can't trust the print on bootlegs, eh? ;)
From memory, I thought the band only played some festivals in 1990.
Then I looked it up, indeed in 1990 they only performed 11 shows in all:

(Neither USA nor Australia were visited. Are we talking 'bout 1992 or 1989 perhaps?)

Huh? Can you elaborate on this a bit?
As far as I know Laurence (Lol) Tolhurst left the band in 1988, how would he own recordings from 1990 (or later)?  :?

Edit: Judging from this tracklist, it should be 1992 (Friday I'm In Love is included):

That's it. Until now I could only speak from my memory too. Unfortunately, I lost "Shellfish's advice"
fifteen years ago, but I meant definitely 1990. Now it seems that "Faith", in fact, was played occasional
that year, but only in Europe. Laurence was dismissed in January 1989. I don't know who is playing the
keyboard on "S.a.". Apart from the earlier mentioned tracks it sounds bad. So it is more likely that
"Shellfish's advice" is mixed with live tracks from different years. Apart from that there's now no
evidence that Laurence is responsible for this bootleg. To make confusion perfect: I could not found
"Three imaginary boys" in 1990. Do you have an idea?

Definitely not, with "Friday..." included, this song was certainly not performed before 1992!

I think you gave yourself an answer to that with the sentence before: it might be recordings from different concerts from various years!

To get back to the original question: best live "album" for me used to be Show (VHS video - because it includes more songs, especially that long version of "A Forest" with additional words). The reason for this being of course that I saw the band live in 1992 and "Show" looks & sounds very similar! (Of course, "Paris" is the perfect companion, some more songs on that which were played at the show I'd seen...)
Nowadays I'm not quite sure if I do have any fave live album. Maybe time for a new one?  ;)

You don't get it, Ulrich. The year 1990 was clearly printed on the backside, but now I'm repeating myself.
Nevertheless, thank you for bring in some light in the past.

Ulrich

Hey, you don't get it - it is possible that "1990" was printed on there, but with it being a "bootleg" there is a strong possibility that the "bootleggers" got it wrong!
Are you tring to tell me that "Friday" was performed in 1990? If so, you should bring some proof!

Edit: Found a pic, it says "P 1993", but the publishing date does not mean it was recorded in that year.

No, I'm not telling you fairy tales. There is no question about "Friday I'm in love". This nearly forgotten
album received now more attention than expected. My intention was to find an assignment for "Faith"
and "Three imaginary boys" on that bootleg, but now it seems that it's my problem and not longer
yours, Ulrich. Don't you think so? Otherwise I would finish that awkward conversation.
