I'm happy for those in attendance tonight that they finally played Faith.  But why couldn't they have ditched that crappy BDC/KAA encore and done the entire Faith encore (Holy hour, Other Voices, Drowning Man, Faith).  Even the Kiss Me encore would have been better.

I would rather hear the '3IB' encore than the 'pop' encore if I had a choice.
Nice they were able to include 3 Imaginary Boys and Fire in Cairo which they haven't played every  night.  I presume they've had great audience response to those 3 encore and so have stuck with them for now

I'm sorry so many of you are disapointed in the setlists. But I would NEVER **** about what they play.  If they played "Jimmy Crack Corn" all night I'd be happy.  Just the thought of seeing them live is enough to get me going.  Hell, most of the songs they play fall into my least favorite list, but I'd still be happy to hear them!

Plus the idea of seeing Simon is always reason enough for me. ;)

I understand what you guys are saying....if you only see them once or a few times every few years, then you are happy with what you get.  However, when you have seen them as many times as I have and will be traveling quite a bit to cover a bunch of US shows, you hope for variety; not the same thing over and over and over.

Imagine going to the theater to see a movie 10 times.  You go in expecting The Godfather and they show you Alvin and the Chipmunks.  Every single time.  Over and over.

Although, I am a bit hypocritical in that if they played the Pornography album in its entirety EVERY time I saw them, I would be VERY happy!

Well call me crazy but according to my copy of festival 2005 there is as many as 19 or 20 different songs on the Paris setlist....No doubt not all the songs people want to hear but just a thought

Right,  I think it feels similar because they are still focusing on playing old stuff  and very little new or newer songs

@EN  what is wrong about disintegration? ;)

Nothing, but it really wasnt part of the 2005 set, even though they put it on the DVD anyway with plainsong...So one of the few "new old" things this tour is plainsong and distintegration back in and open/end on the outs, but it was already on the last DVD

look, im buying it but bearing in mind in a few interviews we have read "I got deadlocked editing the 2005 DVD for 12 months and that sidetracked the new album" from Robert, we either wont see this or the "new" album till 2011. Hope it is a TV thing where Robert has no input on the timing or the editing of it.

This band is in a classic state of paralysis by analysis (this constant remixing and reanalysis 1 cd, 2 cd, etc). Im all for perfection, but sometime you just have to let things roll.

I would bet a large sum of money that
1) the album will not be out by US tour
2) the US setlist will be the valencia setlist (the euro setlist with a half an hour cut out due to 11pm venue curfews here)

Watch them turn around and play the faith encore tonight just to prove me an idiot

yeah, and let's see if they do like in 2005, they played faith 1 night and then they ended every show with it untill the end of the festivals.
still a lot of songs from the mexico shows left to play in europe. i wonder why they hesitate...

I think relatively few people have the time AND money to follow them around  and would be envious to be in your position even if they are giving the same performance.

I don't quite understand your movie analogy.   OK, in your case you're expecting to see the Cure  and you are getting the Cure. :)  A movie watched over and over will be exactly the same,  but I think each concert may have  different atmosphere, mood, sound,  even with the same songs played.

My feeling is that the US shows will not be identical to the current ones.
Maybe its wishful thinking but i'm expecting more new songs to be played

I understand what J is saying, I just hope that they introduce a little variety in the encores.  As I've said several times, the main sets are okay.  This show in particular seems to be a strong set.

Well that was the 6th time ive seen The Cure live and probably the best...
I like it that they play their old tracks after all thats what made them back in the late 70's early 80's. Im sad that they only play one night here as you never know these days when they will be back..if ever, i mean thay hardly ever do a show in England now. Whatever happens in the future i know that i will cherish the thought of seeing such a great band again for the rest of my days...
Well done The Cure :smth023

In Zürich, for instance, they also had to finish at 11p.m. sharp, they just started playing @8p.m. and did the usual 3hrs show.

Hi guys!

All I can say about this concert is that it was finally a good one. As i told you a few days ago, I wasn't confident in my tolerance of accepting all those pop songs (because like all of you I prefer the old ones). BUT the setlist was finally very intense.

The second Encore could not be there, IMO. (The Lovecats, Let's Go to Bed, Freak Show, Close to Me, Why Can't I Be You?) But Robert looked very decontracted… so it was plaisant.

Their "3IB/BDC" encore was really good, and it's very "sympathique" to hear those songs for real. and I didn't expected for 3IB and Griding halt.

and Faith was really a nice surprise (the solo was not unforgotable but inspiration come and go…)

I've found "To wish impossible things" really nice… I don't especially like this song

There are many things I also didn't like in this concert… Porl playing this crapy guitar/Keybord is just so weird and no plaisant at all. His sound was so "acute(?)"… my ears are dead.  :smth011
The sound was not as good as in 96… until "Pictures of You" it was really bad… then more appreciable.

The Pictures showed behind them (covers) were quiet nice.

So, All I know is that I am not Objective at all with a Cure performance ( Yesterday was my 6th or 7th Cure gig of all my life)… but my brother, older than me, who's not a cure fan at all, found it really cool.

So I'm happy in a way… but this should be the last time i saw them, i Think…  until the next show

PS. Simon is such in a good health, whaow… impressive !
This was made to be played loud,
SO TURN IT UP !!!

Yes, great news, happy for the fans who were there! :smth023

Luckily they didn't play "the figurehead" or "a letter to elise"...I would have been so envious!!!! :smth077 ;)
